Choosing the perfect Event Venue!

Searching for the perfect venue to suit your event can be daunting, might feel overwhelming, but should be one of the most fun moments in planning your party! I will give a brief overview and specific suggestions to assist in narrowing down your options for the big day!

  1.  – Pour a glass of wine.
  2.  – Drink said wine.
  3.  – Google away!

All jokes aside, internet homework is the most efficient way to begin your search. A Google venue search, Yelp, wedding blogs, and Facebook are great ways to locate venues, their images, locations, reviews, and details to assist in narrowing down your selections. You will eventually tour some of these venues, but weeding out the ones that don’t fit will save you time and money. You may not see pricing online, however you should be looking for and noting the following key points about each venue.

  • Location
  • Guest Capacity
  • Parking
  • Food and Beverage availability
  • Furniture availability
  • Serving/ Glassware availability
  • Dance Floor/ Floor Plan versatility
  • Outdoor Rain Contingency
  • Bridal Suite/ Changing Room availability

Once compared side by side, narrow your venue search to the top 3-5 locations. Reach out to the venue coordinator and take a tour!  Sometimes if a public location, you can self-tour during operational hours. After narrowing down further, search venue reviews and comments about other couples experience at the venue to confirm your selection. Once your venue has been selected confirm your date and time with the venue coordinator, make a deposit, then return to steps 1-2 noted above to celebrate!

As always, please feel free to comment or email me with any questions!  I am always happy to help!

  1. I like your idea to ensure you have enough furniture available at the event space. It isn’t something I had thought about, but I can see how it would be a problem to not have enough seating or tables for everybody attending. I am trying to help plan the work party for the company I work for. I will keep this in mind as we search for a venue.

  2. It’s interesting that you talked about looking online before you start touring venues. I have been looking for a venue to throw a big birthday party for my friend. I can see how it would be nice to choose a few online first so I can save time while going on tours.

  3. Thanks for these tips for picking a good event venue. I’m glad that you said you should tour some of the venues. This seems important to do for places that you really love, so you can see what you think of it in person.

  4. I like how you suggest taking the time to choose a wedding venue after taking the time to do your homework on the internet. My fiance and I are about to start the wedding planning process, so this is definitely something we’ll keep in mind. I’d definitely feel much more comfortable choosing a venue after looking at what other people have to say about their experiences there.
