Creating a “Great Gatsby” themed table for The Country Club.
Earlier this year, unoaked. was asked to design a table for the annual Dux in Tux, fundraiser benefiting the Anaheim Ducks Foundation. In my previous position as event manager, my restaurant won best table-scape in 2016, and 2017 actually, so the idea of being involved in this event, as unoaked., was a no-brainer!
Our task was to represent the style, feel, and look of the newly opened Country Club in Costa Mesa, CA. Following the restaurant’s decor, we went with a “Great Gatsby” inspired look for the event. Besides being grand, elegant, and rich, we were inspired by a strong image of a sprawling round terrace with a large round fountain. Sweeping decor with no hard edges seemed to lead the final table design and style.
We started with ditching the provided long rectangular table, instead opting to bring in an enormous ten foot wide round table. Baker Party Rentals also provided us classic white chairs, rich ivory linens, gold rimmed plates, gold utensils, and a signature round chandelier mimicking those hanging in the actual dining room at The Country Club.
As to not get lost in a sea of 40 other tables on the floor of the Honda Center, we chose a striking round arch as our signature piece. Bella Blooms provided a stunning palm-covered, eight-foot arch placed on the table top to define our space from across the room.
Additional accents of elegant white flowers in mirrored vases filled the table while glass candelabras soared skyward holding candles and long white plume feathers.
Additional accents included a glass beverage cart with an awesome champagne fountain featuring Gin Rickeys all night long.
Tying all of these elements together, a period victrola record player stood proud in the center of the grand dining table.
It was such an honor to work with the Anaheim Ducks Foundation again on Dux in Tux 2018. Partnering with The Country Club, Bella Blooms, and Baker Party Rentals was truly a pleasure!
We are already looking forward to next year!
